The search has begun for the next person to lead Kendall Whittier Main Street as executive director.

Kendall Whittier Main Street is a nonprofit organization that works with businesses, property owners and community partners to create vibrancy in Kendall Whittier’s commercial areas. It has been serving the community since 2010 and received the Great American Main Street Award just 10 years later.

As part of the state and national Main Street network, KWMS utilizes the proven Four-Point Approach as an avenue for commercial revitalization. The four points represent focus areas – design/historic preservation; promotion and events; organization/management/fundraising; and economic vitality/development. Ideal applicants would have experience in each point.

The Executive Director is responsible for the daily management of KWMS, including but not limited to developing transformation strategies, executing action plans, coordinating speaking engagements, recruiting tenants and/or property owners, liaising with the City of Tulsa on construction and beautification projects, producing community events and festivals and promoting the organization, the district and the businesses themselves.

The Board of Directors is looking for applicants with a Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least three years of experience in nonprofit management as well as someone who is English/Spanish bilingual with a proven record of engaging with the Hispanic community. The Executive Director must be self-directed, action-oriented and passionate about the work they do.

The salary range is $65,000-$75,000. Kendall Whittier Main Street offers paid time off, a health insurance stipend and parental leave.

“Jessica Jackson Seay, our current director, has proudly led the organization since 2019, seeing it through the global pandemic, growing its events and creating new revenue streams,” said Barbara Abercrombie, KWMS Board President. “She has done a tremendous job for the organization and is leaving the organization in wonderful shape for our next director.  We are excited to find the right person for this dynamic, prosperous area of Tulsa.”
