Kendall Whittier Main Street, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that assist businesses and community members succeed in the KWMS district. The Board of Directors of KWMS, have named Evon Markum as their new Executive Director. Markum will be responsible for developing programs that make positive contributions to the Kendall Whittier Main Street business community and neighbors. Her reach into the community is a natural one, as she is a volunteer in the district with San Miguel School.

During her tenure at BOK Center & Cox Business & Convention Center, Evon provided outstanding cultural, athletic, and entertaining opportunities for our students and families, including decorating the Christmas Tree at Winterfest. She highlighted her incredible impact at a special event titled “From San Miguel to Springsteen.’ Evon played a fundamental role in our 9th Annual Dancing with the Tulsa Stars as one of our Celebrity Judges. She’s a San Miguel Ambassador and we are thrilled that Evon will be leading Kendall Whittier Main Street.” Said; Juan Miret, Director of Advancement San Miguel School

“The Kendall Whittier Main Street Board is looking forward to working along-side Evon to make the district a destination for shopping, dining and art and much more.” said; Barbara Abercrombie, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Evon Markum is passionate about assisting business owners serve the thriving community. Evon is a community-driven individual. She will seek out ways to strengthen the existing businesses in the district, while attracting new business opportunities to the Kendall Whittier Main Street District to benefit the community.

Previously Markum was employed by ASM Global-BOK Center/Cox Business Convention Center. She served as an Executive Vice President at a Bank in Texas as their Director of Marketing for over 18 years. She volunteered with the Parker County Health Foundations “Pink Luncheon” for more than 16 years.

Markum has also served on the Congressional Hispanic Advisory Council for more than 14 years. The Hispanic Advisory Council’s mission is to advise Congressional Members on substantive policy and quality of life issues affecting the Hispanic Community.

ABOUT KENDALL WHITTIER MAIN STREET

Kendall Whittier Main Street is a nonprofit organization that works with businesses, property owners and community partners to create vibrancy in Kendall Whittier’s commercial areas. KWMS hosts events to bring people to the district and works closely with local and state liaisons for improvements. Kendall Whittier is a certified cultural district by the Oklahoma Arts Council.
