Vendor applications for Kendall Whittier Los Festivales y Mercados are open for the 2023 season.
Los Festivales y Mercados celebrates Latin American culture through a series of festivals and the ever-popular Mercado, where shoppers can find locally made clothes, jewelry, art, crafts, food, and other handmade items. The historic Kendall Whittier neighborhood, with amenities, restaurants, bars and eclectic shopping will provide a backdrop for the celebrations.
“We’re very excited to kick off another Los Festivales y Mercados season soon,” says Sydney Alison, KWMS Community Engagement Coordinator. “The committee has been hard at work implementing so many new, fun ideas for this year!”
There will be three events, each with a different lively theme, as part of the series taking place in 2023. The first will be a Día del Niño (Children’s Day) celebration on Saturday, April 1 from 2-6 pm in Whittier Square at 1 S. Lewis Ave, featuring activities and entertainment just for kids.
The next event will be a Mexican Kermes on Saturday, July 15 from 4-9 pm in Whittier Square, a celebration similar to a carnival with traditional Mexican games and a focus on delicious food.
Finally, the 2023 season will come to an end on Saturday, September 16 from 3-8 pm with a Día de la Independencia (Independence Day) celebration for nine Latin American countries, who all celebrate their independence from Spain in September. This event will also take place in Whittier Square.
Those interested in selling their locally made products or food at one or more Mercados are encouraged to submit an application at visitKendallWhittier.com/LosFestivales. Applications and more information about the event are available in English and Spanish.
The cost to sell at each Mercado is $40 for a 10’ x 10’ booth space.
It is important to note that this event is not only for Latin American vendors. In previous years, we have had vendors selling everything from Mexican purses to African pottery and Native American jewelry. Authentic expressions of art, spanning all cultures, are welcomed at Los Festivales y Mercados.
Those with questions about the event should email sydney@visitKendallWhittier.com or call or text 918-633-1934.
