Volunteer opportunities for four projects are available as part of the second annual Kendall Whittier Community Day. Join the Facebook event here.

KW Community Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 1 and is a partnership with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful.

“Last year, over 60 people showed up to volunteer for Kendall Whittier businesses and schools. It warmed my heart to see so many people donate their time to help with these projects,” said Sydney Alison, KWMS Community Engagement Coordinator. “Deciding to do it again in 2023 was a no-brainer.”

Projects vary in type and time of day. Volunteer shifts range from 2-3 hours. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts throughout the day. Those interested in volunteering on April 1 can read about each project and sign up for a shift at visitKendallWhittier.com/KWCommunityDay.

Three of the four projects are outdoors. Two projects are ideal for families or volunteers of any age, while the other two are specifically for volunteers 17 or older.

Kendall Whittier Main Street is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, so volunteering for KW Community Day is a great way to earn service hours.

“If you’re in need of volunteer hours for your school, job or community group, or you’re just looking for a way to get involved in Kendall Whittier that directly supports local businesses, this is the perfect initiative,” Alison said. “We highly encourage people to sign up as early as possible because slots fill up quickly.”

Projects include graffiti removal and light landscaping at Flash Flood Print Studios, painting at Whitty Books, and outdoor cleanups at Tulsa Girls Art School and San Miguel School.

Kendall Whittier Main Street is a nonprofit organization that inspires the ongoing revitalization and growth of a historic and cultural neighborhood in Tulsa, striving to transform it back to a thriving, walkable commercial district. It is a Certified Cultural District and a 2020 Great American Main Street Award recipient.
