Bailey Adkison
Board Intern

Bailey Adkison is always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it’s to run an errand, work an event or even interpret on the spot, Bailey is on it.

Bailey is the education program manager at the Gathering Place. This summer, she joined the Kendall Whittier Main Street Board as an intern through a TYPROs and Leadership Tulsa partnership that brings young people to nonprofit boards.

And she immediately jumped in, ready to help improve Kendall Whittier and support its current programs. She joined the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Committee and the Los Festivales y Mercados event series task force.

“Kendall Whittier brings so much cultural vibrancy to Tulsa,” Bailey said. “I feel humbled to be connected to the neighborhood and to get to support its continued growth through volunteering with KWMS.”

While she hasn’t been with Kendall Whittier Main Street very long, she has a long history of volunteering in the neighborhood, starting her volunteerism as a child with the Kendall Whittier food pantry.

Staff Says: “In just six short months, Bailey has proven to be a huge asset to our organization. She is thoughtful in her approach to initiatives and projects, and she is willing to do what it takes to help out, even if that means demonstrating and interpreting dance lessons!” – Jessica Jackson Seay, executive director.

Bailey Says: “My first ever experience volunteering was as a child helping out at the Kendall Whittier food pantry. Since then, I’ve visited the neighborhood consistently with family and friends to not only give back, but enjoy everything the neighborhood has to offer. I’ve seen the area grow and the residents benefit from that growth.” – Bailey Adkison

Fun Fact About Bailey: Her favorite place to shop in Kendall Whittier is Jo and June, and her favorite place to dine is Pollos Asados al Carbon.

Every month in 2022, Kendall Whittier Main Street will be announcing a Volunteer Spotlight. This may be an individual who has gone above and beyond on a project for Kendall Whittier Main Street that month, or it may be a long-time volunteer who deserves recognition for years of service.
