Spend your Sunday afternoon with us helping brighten your favorite neighborhood! Kendall Whittier Main Street is hosting a special clean up and planting afternoon on Sunday, October 25 from 1-5 p.m. Volunteers from KWMS, business owners, residents and friends all across the city will roll up their sleeves and get to work planting flowers and greenery, trimming trees and crepe myrtles and removing graffiti.

***NOTE: Typo in the original graphic. The phone number is 918-633-1934.***

Volunteers can come and go as their schedules allow. Those ready right at 1 p.m. can meet at Whittier Square. If arriving later, call Jessica at 918-633-1934 to get started. Every 30 minutes volunteered will enter you into a raffle giveaway for a free Friends membership and a I Lub K-Dub t-shirt! Advance notice of your intent to participate is not required but is encouraged. You can call or text (same number as above).

We will provide gloves, bags, materials and equipment, but volunteers are encouraged to bring any shovels, rakes, trimmers, weed-eaters, mowers or other tools that might be useful. Masks will be required when working in close proximity to another volunteer outside your household.

After, stop over at the Tipton Community Fall Harvest & Garden Get-Together!

Tune into Main Street America on Facebook live at 11 a.m. CST on Oct. 30 to see if we'll be named one of the 2020 Great American Main Street Award recipients! In February, we announced the eight semifinalists of the 2020 Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA). A top honor within the commercial district revitalization field, GAMSA winners are shining examples of the power of the Main Street Approach.

Congratulations to: Boyne City Main Street, Destination Congress Heights, Denison Live, Evanston Urban Renewal Agency, Greater Ashmont Main Street, Jefferson Matters: A Main Street & Chamber Community, Kendall Whittier Main Street, and Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association.

To celebrate these inspiring semifinalists and to get you reacquainted with their accomplishments, we’ll be highlighting one GAMSA semifinalist per day on our blog and social channels starting tomorrow October 20 through Thursday, October 29.

Join us as we announce the GAMSA winners on Friday, October 30 at 12pm EST during a special Main Street plenary at PastForward, the National Trust for Historic Preservation's digital conference. The plenary is free to attend but registration is required! Learn the ways you can register here: bit.ly/3dEHfxq
