Come visit Kendall Whittier Main Street this weekend at AAA Route 66 Road Fest Saturday and Sunday at the SageNet Center at the Expo Square.

Road Fest, dubbed The Mother of All Road Fests, is full of Route 66-themed activities and car events, live music and local and regional vendors.

“Kendall Whittier really started to thrive because Route 66 came right through Whittier Square between 1926-1932,” said Jessica Jackson Seay, executive director of KWMS. “Kendall Whittier is now home to both the historic and current alignment of the route, so we knew we had to be a part of Road Fest, which celebrates nearly a decade of America’s Main Street.”

The Kendall Whittier Main Street booth will have information about upcoming events and the district, kids coloring sheets and crayons, the annual KWMS Impact Report, KWMS shirts and tote bags for purchase and information on KWMS businesses.

The KWMS Booth will be on the upper deck on the north side. Other Kendall Whittier vendors include Circle Cinema, Mythic Press and Mother Road Market.

Musical performers include Better Than Ezra, Son Volt, Tulsa Playboys and Cannons, among other bands.

For the little ones – and kids of all ages — Road Fest has a pinewood derby, mini-golf, interactive art, robotics and drones as well as virtual reality.

“There’s a journey through the decades of Route 66, an indoor ‘drive-in’, a classic car show, an RV park experience and the future of mobility, plus talks and presentations,” Jackson Seay said. “It’s going to be a really fun event with so much to see and do!”

Road Fest tickets are $20 for adults, with special pricing for children, teens, military and seniors. There’s a special deal happening now that offers two adult tickets for just $30 total.
