With hope on the horizon, Kendall Whittier Main Street is gearing up for an eventful year – literally a year full of events!

“We are eager to start hosting events again in Kendall Whittier,” said Jessica Jackson Seay, executive director of Kendall Whittier Main Street. “We’ve missed bringing the community together.”

KWMS generally hosts between 10 and 20 events annually. In 2020, Main Street canceled events starting in April out an abundance of caution. The 2021 events will start a bit later than normal, kicking off in mid-May.

“We went ahead and pushed back a few of our early-in-the-year events to give Tulsans a bit more time to get the COVID-19 vaccine and safely gather once again,” explained Sydney Alison, KWMS Community Engagement Coordinator. “We will still take safety precautions at events as recommended, but we feel more comfortable hosting now that things are looking up.”

On the second Thursday of the month from May through October, KWMS will have its always-popular After Five series, an outdoor concert in a pop-up park in Whittier Square parking lot.

The Kendall Whittier Arts Festival was pushed from its usual April date to October 16. K-Dub Grub & Suds, a beer and food event that premiered in February 2020, will take place on August 24.

Three events will be part of a Los Festivales y Mercados series, which will take place on June 12, September 18 and December 18. The September event will be the annual Mexican Independence Day Celebration and December will be a KW take on Las Posadas. All three events will include Mercado vendors.

“We’ll have a few surprises as the year goes on as well,” Alison said. “We are working on a few other events and with other entities on some fun activities in Kendall Whittier, so more will be coming soon!”

The event schedule is subject to change. Events are sponsored by Fowler Automotive. To be an event sponsor, learn more here.
