The film is based on Raymond Chandler detective novels, and John is an expert on film and literature from the 1930s and 40s. Fun fact he shared: “Interesting that Liam Neeson is playing Philip Marlowe, since Marlowe’s creator, Raymond Chandler, was an American kid educated in Britain’s public-school system and some Chandler scholars think that his character was meant to bring British values and attitudes to America.”
