MEET THE ARTIST
“Growing up as an immigrant child from Mexico in Oklahoma has set the tone for my work as a photographer. I would continuously find myself diminishing myself due to the new and intimidating setting that was America. David Lachapelle, in particular his piece “My House” with Alek Wek from 1997 was my initial inspiration as a visual artist. Going more in depth into his work I became increasingly intrigued with fashion photography. My work reflects how I want to feel on a daily basis, poised with a great assertion of confidence no matter the setting. The elements of putting together characters, atmosphere, and emotion through a lens became my passion.”
Rogelio graduated with a degree in Applied Science in Photography from OSUIT in Okmulgee, OK. After college he began working as a photo editor for publications such as Entertainment Weekly and institutions like NYU Langone in New York City. Aside from his work as an editor, Rogelio is also a freelance photographer and has been published in Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly.
