Blackout Poetry

Join Whitty Books for an evening of fun and creativity at Heirloom Rustic Ales! We’ll bring all of the supplies for you to work on your own blackout poetry; a judge will choose their 3 favorites, and ask the writers of the winning three to read them aloud. The winners will receive some great prizes, including gift cards from Whitty Books and Heirloom Rustic Ales.
How do you make a blackout poem?
It’s simple– grab a page from a book, blackout the words you don’t want to use, repeat as necessary! It is a great way to get past the intimidation of the blank page, try your hand at writing poetry for the first time, or get past a bout of writer’s block.
