Blackout Poetry

Join us for an evening of fun and creativity at Heirloom Rustic Ales! We’ll bring all of the supplies for you to work on your own blackout poetry; a judge will choose their 3 favorites, and ask the writers of the winning three to read them aloud. The winners will receive some great prizes, including a gift card from Whitty Books.
How do you make a blackout poem?
It’s simple– grab a page from a book, blackout the words you don’t want to use, repeat as necessary! It is a great way to get past the intimidation of the blank page, try your hand at writing poetry for the first time, or get past a bout of writer’s block.
