Narrative in Motion Workshop and Dance
November 2, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Writers and dancers both convey narratives. Writers use words, and dancers use movement. This event will take narratives from written words and put them into motion.
This event has three stages:
Stage 1: Words
Between the start of October and the end of the day on October 19, writers can submit narratives they are currently working on via this form: https://goo.gl/forms/4Y3mn9mP1cFYJmhw1
Stage 2: Music
Our team of DJs will create 5-6 song setlists based on these narratives
Stage 3: Motion
On November 2nd, fusion dancers will move the narratives from music into movement!
On November 2nd from 1:30-4:00pm, we will have a workshop for dancers to equip them for the adventure ahead! We will address such questions as: How do you use movement to convey a narrative? How do you dance to show an emotion? Or to display a character? How do you do so for longer than one song, but rather over several songs?
From 7-11pm, we will have a unique social dance experience where writers will be able to watch dancers put their narratives into motion! Writers and dancers are encouraged to interact with each other at the event and share their experiences of conveying a narrative through different art forms.
This event is a fundraiser for National Novel Writing Month! There is no cost to attend, but we suggest a donation of $10 per person for the dance and $15 per person for the workshop
Non-writers and non-dancers are welcome to attend!
This is an 18+ event
